Hey everyone,

I recently found a pair of Levi’s jeans with some unusual tags and I’m trying to identify what exactly they are. The jeans were made in Hungary, probably around the late 1990s or early 2000s, and have two internal codes:

One tag says 1953-9-A

Another says 1953-9-B

The composition is also quite unique for Levi’s: 86% cotton, 11% wool, 3% polyester — the fabric feels thick, warm, and durable, almost like a workwear-type denim.
There’s no classic style number like 501, 505, etc., and the main label only says Levi Strauss & Co. Europe.

The jeans have a button fly, yellow stitching, red tab, and standard Levi’s rivets and buttons.

I’m wondering if anyone here has ever seen these codes before or knows if this could be:

A European factory test batch,

A workwear / staff issue, or

Some kind of prototype or limited production model.

Any info, catalogs, or production background would be super helpful. I can upload more pictures (tags, fabric texture, buttons) if needed.

Thanks a lot in advance for your insights — I’d love to know if this piece could be considered rare or collectible.

Cheers,
