There was a time when people had fewer clothes and ordinary people didn't have "sportswear," much less resort wear. Some people had specialized work wear to the extent that you could tell what they did by their clothes (I see by your outfit that you are a cowboy). Others, including children, just wore old clothes. And a lot of people wore the same things everyday. That is, if they wore a suit, that's all they ever wore, old or new. My wife informs me that one of her grandfathers always wore a suit. My father, on the other hand, wore the same thing everyday all year long, except on Sunday when he wore a suit--all day long. However, a "suit" is really just an outfit with matching pants and coat (or jacket). Vest/waistcoat optional. Likewise, a suit (lounge suit, sack suit) was not considered dress-up clothes at one time. Dress clothing included frock coats and tail coats, which may not have had matching pants. Tail coats are still worn, of course, but not by people like me.

Great pic DoubleO, the tattered sack coat suit is some of my favorite styling of late.
I make things out of leather.

Joey’s train tracks are much more pronounced than Chandler’s and I can’t tell if Phoebe’s sleeveless denim jacket is a Type I or II. I think Monica may have a vintage western shirt around her waist too.
