This is where I’ll post random items from the 1800’s
Mining, farming, logging, whatever It doesn’t have to be from the 1800’s We found a 1880’s suspenders clasp, 2 days ago, it’s way cooler than I initially thought. Edited by Sansome - 22 Nov 2019 at 11:03pm |

Spent yesterday at my boss's property, most of the day we were looking for new spots. After night fall, i crawled into a rat hole, it was a room four feet tall- 6feet long and 5 wide. I moved a few rocks- then trash Arm patch |

We have a lot of old things in this house (including me) but little of things that would be of interest here. I think one interesting thing, though, might be this.
When my father passed away over twenty years ago, I inherited a cedar chest (and little else). It was a time capsule from around 1950. That was when my mother had a serious stroke, which left her as an invalid until she died. One item was a newspaper from a small town in southern West Virginia. A couple of things illustrate how times have changed. One was an obituary from someone who was in their 80s. The cause of death was given as "extreme old age." Another was a notice about letting contracts for construction of a one-room school. Nowadays, they just use busses with four-wheel drive.
