Apologies if I posted similar photos last year but once again I was invited to the town of Sighisoara in Transylvania for their annual blues festival.

This first shot is the view from the Main Street up the hill to the clock tower.

Moving up the hill.

Aside from the main street it was all cobblestones.

The clock tower.

Detail of the figures. Sadly I never managed to time it right to be there when they were moving.

There is a little museum with armor, swords & guns, etc. Also some Vlad memorabilia.

This supposedly was the house where Vlad was born but one local I talked to said that was highly unlikely.

Further up the hill is a church & graveyard.

These brothers were attending the festival. They had been born in Sighisoara but moved to Germany as young children. I ran into them on this day visiting the grave of their grandparents.

These are some of the older gravestones.

Heading back down the hill to town.

Nightfall...

Made it to the next morning unscathed.

A friendly dog named Blackie who we met at a pizza restaurant. Apparently well fed, he left the crust I put down for him.

Thanks, Cozzie! It's my understanding that a simpler tower was built in the 13th century & the clock part & upper floors were added in the 1600s.
