Right now I am selling an early type Levi‘s LVC Type 2 Lot. 507 Jacket SOLD! Any infos in addition to mentioned in listing would be appreciated, thank you. Only thing I remember, got the jacket +10 years ago, but I forgot the determining factors... (getting older or better simply handled to many items all over the years).

Hey all, I recently found what I believe to be an LVC Type 2 at the flea market. Cardstock patch in good condition, big E, selvedge around the inside edge, silver buttons with no numbers, and the panels are slightly irregular in colouration. Any ideas what collection this could be from? I'm erring toward Made in Japan.

2 years back, I turned a few friends on to a mining system- that I was never going to go in (we don’t repell down shafts)
They ended up finding a major Levi puzzle piece-from what I think is the 1876 time period ( I believe the mine started sometime in1875) Unfortunately this piece went under the knife back in the day, so what’s left of the pant is most of the waistband- both front pockets- the fly and no back pocket. For the first time- I got to see a readable Levi label from the mid 1870’s—- It’s changed what we know It looks that, maybe as early as 1874- Levi leather labels had (every pair guaranteed) Sometime in the 1880’s the label changed from saying duck and denim pants to duck and denim clothing (The LVC wording label always says duck and denim clothing) Sometime in 1887- the white labor white women factory on Fremont street opened- the factory was- in what was called the Donahue building-the Donahue building was being constructed in 1885-86 and by the end of 1886 it was complete and the first tenant moved into the building ( the first tenant was named and moved into the building November of 1886- and it wasn’t Levi Strauss) This is how we pegged Levi starting their new factory sometime in 1887 Levi has in their archive a 1887 XX factory pant with blank shank buttons and it has the wording label still intact I’m not sure what’s on the label- but one thing is clear- in somewhat big letters, stamped diagonal across the patch is the words ( white labor only) You might recall we found a double pleated 1 pocket Levi jacket that had the same label that I described- I thought our jacket at the time was from the 1889 time period when most likely it was from the 1887 time period. We know now that the 2 horse brand label was trademarked in California- February of 1888 and this is when we think the 2 horse brand was first being put on pants- the old information still stands when it comes to the 2 horse brand progression- when the 2hb first started- every pair guaranteed was no longer on the label- it looks as if lot numbers and every garment guaranteed was put back on the label- sometime in 1894 So some of my information given early on in this thread (is wrong) Levi’s kid duck pants are older than we thought and Leather labels did say every pair guaranteed up until- most likely 1888 Edited by Sansome - 05 Nov 2019 at 9:25am |

I enjoy this topic about the canvas and buckle back models, i worked at the rosebowl from 1997 to 2004, wholesaling to Japanese, importing deadstock european workwear and some levis, maybe some of you were at the rosebowl too.

The first time I started going to Rosebowl in 2009, I was a 1800’s snob for years, I considered 1920’s too new…man was that dumb, those must have been some good years to be at the bowl, I hear it pretty much sucks now, I think it’s the Long Beach flea now, meaning better stuff there. |

thanks man,
yes i know many swap meat ending like this, selling shampu now, i did long beach airport show at that time too. at the rosebowl my friend Rudolf falcon was the right hand of Marc wertx american rag, and little farer was Larry Hellers cafe, he was more often on my booth checking stuff than i check his booth cause i fell mad all the time, jealous and his pants,,lol...good souvenir...i am in spain now, i bought low of machine and got some denim from japan, it has been dificult and expensive importing, in europe they dont respect the EPA act betwen japan and europe and we pay lot of taxes customs etc...anyway, i have been involved with collecting levis jeans since 1987, will sew a canvas pants soon 1873 base on some images of the smithsonian and here too. But Samsone, you have a serious collection of buckle backs do you? very nice images here.

That’s history now, I work construction still at 55, I work by the hour and have side hustles, I got to The point where I couldn’t really afford keeping it, my kids needed cars/ college/ a shit ton of pets etc… I started selling 1-2 pieces every year for about 12 years. I still have 1 really nice pair that I can’t sell, still on the hunt, one of these times he should hit it big/ maybe not so big? I’ll have a collection again at some point, just not much at the present. |

I understand, myself i can't pay like some collectors either, but i sold a buckle back at the rosebowl one day and i regret it, ( I meant Larry Heller's cafe sorry on my post). I want to show case a few rare garments like this under frame if i can later on for the sewing studio or some expo.
I ma 54 and i started sewing 4 years ago and it was hard being in a country with no denim culture, even the sewing machine shop dont know well what you need. and i got some fabric fromthe shiniya mill first like the 0505 1 mm thick, lapseaming with these is very difficult, like 16 fabric on top of each other to close the pants, making it to 1 cm thick or more, i even think they sent the thickest weaved fabric during summer or rainy days to us abroad while they kept the more tension ones to the 7 japanese vintage freaks brand .... now its impssible to get your hands on fabric from this mill. I started this to keep the jeans deadstock, and after 2-3 years I could not even find these fabrics anymore, i needed to updated all my machines to close these pnats and as soon as all was going well no more thick fabrics....not that i like thick fabric but the sb0505 ( secret denim, often called) had these ring lines etc looking just like Amoskeag denim pants, the sb666 is very demanded too, casi impossible to get from them. i am now sewing some nice 13 oz from Kofuya denim works, and its great to get different denims. lot of efforts in Japan now to produce nice selvedge but millions of meters ordered by levis and uniglo makes it difficult for us. mills are booked up until end of 2027 -28. if you want order you need to wait 2 years, in the same time lot of jacquard selvedge is being produced in China with these new blue looms, i ve seen the 150 years aniversary selvedge from levis being produced in china too. I wanted to find one or a few looms, to produce selvedge but the problem is the warping and threads, no threads here, no dying, you will need to buy all these machines too, a bit dificult for now but not impossible,m its just liek europe is not competitive compare to Japan. despite lot of cottons here in spain. anyway selvedge denim is very unstable, so the idea of keeping the jeans deadstock etc went well due to the dificulty to get regularly selvedge fabric... not much from japanese brands that i like, i found ok the ww2 model from samurai, the bushido 4 years ago loom state but its over and again i dont like the 8 mm lapseam anymore. after all the efforts to import vintage workwear to the US, helping Ralph Lauren and many Japanese, i was asked to depart, it was the first time i heard the word "depart" in the us, the important was to make these corporates rich, if you end up bad or rejected in europe for the US it does not count, they used you, screw you, robb you $34k before i left etc,
was banned on Instagram so important for the denim and horticulture, etc even in europe they continued screwing me the best they could. so i am saying today since 1999 my life has been a nightmare, not only due to the us and gov and agencies and divorce or social media restriction shadowbanned, when i look at marc zuckerberg its better i do not say how i feel. i think he is responsible for these wars too. despite all the furstrations i decided to set my ego low and start sewing, i dont regret, i prefer to be where i am at now outside of this country, i understand with the natives genocide 100 millions you guys play the world savor justice, and i laugh...sorry to say so. i havent find lot of help, some like mister freedon i contacted years ago he didnt even responded me. all these french bitch you see in La and the attitude...finally you start thinking its better to be out, all the traumas and restrictions etc has made me feel much stronger, thnak you all. keep your ego at the top and look around everything falling. before i left in 2004 i was in mendocino renting from Steeve Nepove, Milan Hopkins was sharing a loft asmost with me, it was one of the best building activist at that time, Steeve ex from Vietnam war, we learned a lot with him, sad to see all these conflicts today, a majority but it profits to minorities only. i hope in the us you find other way to express themself, like the music, art, etc but mostlky the artisana is the only culture and its the written culture who drove you so low, in these conflicts. it seems like all us values are down for the military, the funcionaria is the biggest war today, it s why you see what you see. its dangerous having so many people depending of the gov to screw others.. in 2001 some west hollywood gangs meebers robbed my truck at 3 am for the rosebowl, i did the rosebowl 80 times, i had 2 booths, i recovered my truck untouched, left in acomercial zone , i was so lucky, the detctives called me they said they enver seen this in their whole life, for the recovery the cops didnt even wnat come straight they had to called me 25 times every 200 meters cause it was azone behind a freeway a guetappen to be shot, 2 weeks after they robbed my storage in east pasadena and again they left me a baby shirt on the floor, with written " this is to be cool" , they didnt robb much, i call my friend Phillipe inTexas, he forwarded an invoice i got 5000 $ from this robbery where 5004 were taken only, so twice the wrost gang members tried to robb em but i ended up with money, but i lost the show. no harms from them just good souvenir, these mexicans of 300 lbs with foot moustache style driving back the dead end street when the cops finally showed up,nothing happenned. it was the friend of Xavier robert a hells angel, jean jacques a french snitch who probably called them on me, but i manged it very well, i was in grapevine driving back home thinking all was lost, i finally stoppped on the top of the mountain and smoke a joint of the max 49 hydro from ed rosenthal, then decided to drive back were the truck was aand my car drove me stariught to the truck in this commercial zone cops dodnt even go to search.... Xavier robert was a cool guy, i had good time with him, Satchiko his wife, he sells at the rosebowl a long time too, he then moved to Thailand to supply military gear as the gov dont supply nothing. i had a big agent to to buy from shinya mill, and they run out of stock, not the mill who stop selling us re levis selvedge 150 eyars aniversary produced in China i didnt want sound bad, i myself look at modern loom in china for selvedge, from Mr Song Song this guy. and i got plenty of infos from a deni suplier there, its allk depend of the thread you use, but when i red the eco end thread was made from recycled jeans cotton,, then i thaught about all the poly thread being recycled as cotton, so its all about what thread they are using, to compensate quality of cotton lacks, using Pure linen or pure hemp thread boost the fabric and its what i wnated to do with modern loom too why not.
