Hello,

My aunt found an old pair of jeans in a mining shed in Colorado. I was given an offer by a dealer but wanted to make sure it was fair before deciding what to do with them. I have pictures that I can post, but do not see that as an option here. Thank you for your time in advance!

WOW! Looks like the the Spring bottom pants from 1905!

I thought they might be spring bottoms too, we’re going to need more and better pictures to help identify these.
If these are genuine turn of the century Levi’s there could be some real value to these, I would not part with them hastily. What was the collectors offer?

Wow! I'm gonna check my coal chute.

I wonder if i could get them down to a 32" with a boil wash and dryer...?

Remarkably good condition for a 100 year old garment found in a shed.....

Agreed! I'm shocked they are as old as the one person suggests! 1905. They were in the attic of the mining shed, and Leadville has pretty good humidity levels year round. Maybe the 10,000 feet elevation has something to do with it, who knows. Any idea what they could be worth?

Personally, if they were mine, I'd take them to Levi's HQ in SF and let them examine them in detail.

If they are what they appear to be, I would think they will give you a very favourable offer!

Thank you for that info, I tried looking up contact info for the Levi archive, but all I could find was their general contact info. Anyone know the best way to contact Levi's? Thanks for the help in advance, this community is great! Makes me want to keep the jeans myself

Shredwin’s up first, he’s gonna take them on the building site for a month and if they split, he’ll get a new pair in accordance with the guarantee on the label.

Now, it could just be a case of accidental synchronicity, but.....

First, we are presented with what must be the best preserved example of Gold Rush era Levis ever seen…..found in Colorado...

And then a few hours later, Brit Eaton, the guy who is probably THE expert at finding old Levis in Colorado... Joins the site!!

Too good to be true? Just a coincidence? Buggered if I know??

BTW, a big welcome to Brit. You are a hero of mine!

Yup.

It would be very sad if someone else is using his name.

As I said, a big welcome from me.

I did the same, 00.

And I looked at Leadville, Colorado. A pretty well known place. A LOT of Western and gold/silver rush history took place there.

So there are really still mining premises there that have not been examined with a fine tooth comb by the likes a Brit or Bandit?

"No, I'm not looking in the attic - who's gonna put stuff up there?"

Beats me...

The images were definitely not lifted from another site! But I don't blame either of you for checking since the pants are quite rare apparently. Can't thank this community enough, thank you for all of the information you continue to provide. Once I figure out how to post better quality images I would be very happy to do so.

albu, the easiest way would be to upload them to an image hosting website, flickr or imgur then either post them or provide a link here and one of us can post them for you, if not you could email them to me and i'll do it on your behalf. Just take lots and lots of images, both inside and out, its the details we're all excited about.
