On my way home from LA a few days ago, before shit got crazy...I stopped off to see Mike Hodis. Since he is currently between shops Mike invited me over to his house where he has set up a temporary workshop. As per usual, the sewing is being done by Belar (not sure how to spell his name) who is a man of few words.

They have some nice new pieces in the works. One item I bought is a short sleeve sweat with a zip opening at the collar (available in navy, black & white). The Vanguard pants are now available in a lightweight denim. There are a couple of new jackets in the works. The stadium jacket in light colored denim (viewable on their IG page) is the kind of thing I would definitely have gone nuts for in my younger years & even now in my wrinkled prune stage of life, I'm quite tempted...Another item in the works is the Foreman jacket in a new material. This doesn't appear to be on their IG so perhaps I shouldn't go into further detail.

Mike also showed me a pic of the new business location in Monrovia. For those of you that haven't heard, it's an old restored gas station that looks super cool.

It was good to see Mike & to know that Runabout are still a going concern.

^^^ I went down to Mike’s new location two weeks ago, when it’s done- it’s going to put to shame
Both of his old locations- now that shit is crazy, I have no idea when I’ll start work?

What will you be doing there?

First thing- lightly sand the old paint on the garage ceiling in the back of the station- it must be like a 4,000 square foot shop that was used to work on cars- back in the day. The old paint on the ceiling looks nice and rustic, so we’re trying to stay with that look- lightly sand loose paint, then seal it- stop the little flecks of paint from gradually raining down.

Then some painting in other places- inside and a little outside painting that needs to be done.

Picked up two of Runabout Goods Protective Gear Mask. Glad to hear that they are medical grade as well.
Pretty stoked on them. Breathable and comfy.

I am wearing specs and all the masks i've tried so far make my glasses steamy. Annoying as hell. That Runabout one looks good!

Mike sure likes naming his pants, so this ones the vanguard?

The high school my entire family went to- we’re all vanguards.

Even I have fallen prey to the convention of naming pants, alas it's become a good way to differentiate and easier for people to refer to a piece.

I draw the line at naming my regular Joe cars though.

I can see the need, I’m overlooking the retail aspect, I prefer some sort of numbering
System.

Runabout's Vanguard are the best-fitting non-denim trousers I own. I love the details. It's a shame availability is so limited.

They look great, I’ll see if I can work a deal, maybe get a pair worked into
The paint job deal?

I would. I have the vanguards in brown corduroy. They’re awesome.

I’m thinking about the ones shredder has, I’ll take the denim if he has some.

I'm sure he has them, Mike. They're a relatively recent addition to the line.

Yes. You can talk him into adding a pair as a bonus to your painting wages.

If he balks at that, maybe try to snag the new A3 cap instead:

or maybe shoot for the starts and try to get both!
