Hi, I bought a pair of Levi’s jeans 501xx 1987 STF, med in USA Belt button stamped 552, dead stock. Don’t have too much experience regarding that period. The label shows 0393 Everything looks perfect except the rivets don’t have Levi’s logo stamped on the back Do not know if that is normal Will be glad to hear an opinion from experience person. Thank you!

I looked at some of my 501’s from that time period, they were all printed Levi on the rivet backs, but I wouldn’t be too Leary of no printing on the rivet Backs- as long as the rest of the pant looks right, what’s the copyright date on The back of the back pocket flasher?

Thank you for your replay and information! The flashers show 1987, On the guarantee patch is written OVER 135 years What I understood is that the model is 1987 and the manufacturing date is 3rd week of 1993. I owe several pairs of Levi’s lvc 47 and 54 years USA Cone denim from Aero Scotland , but this 1987 jeans denim feels and looks very good. Tick, rough and hairy without being self edge Probably missing the back stamp of rivets is not a problem. The quality control missed it

Hi all
I have a pair of 502-0117 selvedge denim jeans from Levi’s. It seems that they’re a renamed transitional version of the 501ZXX only produced in this guise in the mid to late 60s. These don’t have a red tab though and I think never did have one on them (rather than it being cut off, I mean) whereas the others I’ve read about have a big E red tab, which is obviously what you’d expect from this vintage. Anyone heard of this with 60s Levi’s?

I’ve had some 502’s too from the late 60’s, they did indeed have a Big E Red Tab on them. I have never heard of Levi’s not having some kind of tab since the red one was first introduced in 1936.

I’m guessing they’re seconds - the button hole stitching has come away. Looks like a Talon zipper but the “Talon” looks like it’s been scratched away, again suggesting seconds, although I haven’t seen that before. Beautiful selvedge though and they’re clearly unsanforized denim, shrunk from 35”x36” to 31 x 31. If anyone is interested, let me know.
